I am beginning my first year as a teacher split between two schools. I will be teaching middle school reading in one school, and middle school special education in the second. My students in special education are working to develop comprehension skills, but I hope to do more. These students have struggled with reading throughout their school career, which has dampened their feelings about reading. I hope to not only teach them skills to aid in their comprehension, but to introduce them to books that capture their interests and create life-long readers.
