Being an English and Language Arts teacher, it is my goal for students to read in their free time, and find a love of reading that they will carry outside of the classroom. As a first year teacher, I want to provide my students a classroom library of novels that I loved to read when I was in high school. This project includes novels from several genres so students can choose books that best suits their interests. Classroom libraries play a key role in providing access to books and promoting literacy; they have the potential to increase student motivation, engagement, and achievement and help students become critical thinkers, analytical readers, and informed citizens.
