In my English class, I cover a variety of standards to ensure my students graduate with the ability to read, comprehend, and discuss complex text. One specific standard asks students to read a play by Shakespeare, and oftentimes they are only ever exposed to Shakespeare's most famous works. I want to give my students the opportunity to read a tragedy that isn't one they may have heard of before, yet is still engaging with relatable themes. Many students won't go on to read Shakespeare after high school, so I'd like to show them more of what this amazing playwright has to offer. Titus Andronicus is one of those plays; it has drama, violence, excitement, and deception, and I truly believe my students will love it.
