This interesting and diverse selection of books will help to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library contains a variety of literature that each of my students enjoy. In our ELA classroom, our new literacy focused curriculum allows us the space to read every single day in class (and at home) and helps students figure out who they are as a reader. My classroom library is an important part of this experience as it is a place for them to find books that will hold their interest and challenge them. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and my students are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind - I have watched them these past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. With these new titles, my students will be able to continue to read the variety of books they enjoy, and will allow them to read regularly and independently at their own grade level. It has been proven that the best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and in order to do that my students need access to high interest books that help them develop their reading personalities. These books will continue to help my students grow into strong readers. Since the beginning of the school year, my students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
