The materials I have requested are sensory tools that each of my students need and communication devices to help my students express their needs within the classroom. These tools will give my students the opportunities to be successful in my classroom by fulfilling their sensory needs and reducing their frustration of not being able to communicate their needs to staff. Your generous donation to our project will provide the tools to help my students learn to communicate and self-regulate their behaviors so they can be successful in school and reach their goals. Everyday our class participates in a rest/sensory time; this time is where the bubble tube will give my students with light sensory needs another opportunity to calm down before working on academic work and life skills. When some students get frustrated they need multiple opportunities to calm down. Pressure from the weighted lap pad will help them self regulate. Other students have a need to be moving or rocking. Movement in the sensory rocker and vibrations from the vibration tube will help the students meet these needs in a way that keeps them safe. During work time it is hard for my students to focus. Providing them flexible seating like, the bilibo chairs for independent work and carpet time will help them be successful at completing their task. When students are frustrated during work time, it is important to have a safe and calm place in the classroom. To create this I need and enclosed object, like the tent. Inside the tent there is a cozy place and a place to release movement needs with a ball pit! The Tiny Talkers and recordable buttons will give my students the voice to express their needs and wants and will reduce frustrations in the classroom.
