Throughout our school day, many of my students ask to sit on the floor or stand because the chair they have isn't comfortable. This distraction takes away from their learning time, focus, and stamina. They love school and they should be completely comfortable and able to learn in the best environment possible. The flexible seating choices will help them to feel the necessary comfort at school and stay more focused on their learning. I have many students in my class who need movement and personal space in order to be their most successful. Each of the flexible seating options gives the students the choice to move a little or a lot. This movement is enough to keep them from distracting others, and to stay focused on completing work or engaged in instruction. Giving students choice with seating in the classroom is a very simple way to help kids to collaborate with others, feel in control of themselves, feel in control of their learning, feel comfortable and help them reach their greatest potential. I want to help build and develop that nurturing environment for my students.
