Our district has launched brand new inclusive preschool classrooms for the very first time this fall. Each classroom blends learners who are served through special education, learners who qualify based on income, and learners whose families pay tuition. Inclusive classrooms cultivate empathy and teach students to see the person before their disability. Inclusive communities reduce bullying and contribute to a more positive self-image for neurodivergent learners. Neurotypical learners become future doctors, lawyers, mothers, daycare providers and help co-create a world that is more universally accessible.
