My students love of learning has led us to an inquiry project. My students are busy investigating the world and it's citizens through reading, writing, drawing, researching, and exploring. The multicultural food and kitchen accessories will help to enhance their learning at the dramatic play center; and having our very own toaster oven will give my students the ability to cook and prepare snacks for our classroom and school community. Reading, writing, and math will all be enhanced through your donations -- students will write recipes, make cookbooks, sequence, measure, and count. These materials will springboard many writing and math experiences as students use the wallets and money to purchase items when playing store, as well as cook up learning in a social setting in the dramatic play area. The convection toaster oven will give my students an opportunity to cook and create dishes from around the world as snacks; as well as open another center for learning - the cooking center. The convection oven will allow us to make our our Gingerbread Man at Christmas time and bake a King Cake during Mardi Gras. We can also use the oven and hot plate to cook our weekly recipes that go with the stories we are reading in class or our focus letter of the alphabet. We will also be able to use the toaster oven to cure clay for art projects as well as math and parent gifts. High-quality, long-lasting materials for dramatic play are costly. Your donations will help put materials in the hands of eager young learners for many years to come.
