Flexible seating allows for students to choose comfortable learning environments that work best for them. No longer will there be the days of sitting in boring chairs, wishing to move around with these great tools. Whether it is sitting at their desk, balancing on a ball, pulling up a cushion, quickly grabbing a stool or wobbling on their seat, the students will be able to do just that. Students will be given the opportunity to choose where and how they sit during the day, encouraging them to choose what best fits their learning style. For those students that are unable to sit still during a lesson, they may choose a wobble stool. Students who want to work together on projects may pull up the wire stools to a table where they all fit. Sensory challenges are also common for many students in my class, so offering a stability ball may help with their learning. And for those avid readers who love to hang out at the carpet and browse through their favorite titles, they will have cushions to get comfy. By providing flexible seating, my students will have the advantage of being comfortable and wiggly even during the most rigorous part of our days!
