Flexible seating allows for alternative learning environments for students. Many 5th grade students struggle with sitting for long periods of time without the option of moving. Gone are the days of sitting in desks in rows for 6 hours! Alternative seating options gives students the opportunity to take charge of their learning atmosphere. With this project, students may choose to sit on stools or cushions that allow them to get the "wiggles out" while working. Many studies have shown that students are noticeably more engaged and on task while sitting in alternative seats. I am hoping that a change from the traditional "desk and plastic chair" option will foster creative thinking and problem solving in the classroom. I am asking for wobble stools and cushions for students to use to wiggle while they work!
