Our District is a huge supporter of BYOD - allowing students to Bring Your Own Device to use in the classroom as a learning tool. The dynamics of my students range from students with special needs, students from low-income families, students from prominent families and everyone in between. I love my students and families! Navigating these challenges and teaching tolerance is a huge part of our school's Caring Community. My 6th grade students are eager to grow up. They crave independence and maturity, which can be such a struggle at this vulnerable time in their lives. Technology in their hands can provide me with one teachable moment after another. My kids are hungry for technology at all times and I have found it to be one of the best teaching tools. Students are encouraged to use online learning tools for reading comprehension, vocabulary, research, online reading, essay writing and study skills, just to name a few!
