Becoming well-developed mathematicians and scientists requires a great deal of focus and attention. Certain tasks in these subject areas promote productive struggle, which can cause a lot of frustration for many students. In my opinion, flexible seating provides positive outlets for students in these rigorous situations. In addition, I have seen how various flexible seating options can make a huge impact on student engagement in the classroom. Students are more engaged when they feel they are active participants in their learning. Your donation can help to alleviate fidgeting bodies and restless minds, which will ultimately improve student learning in my classroom. Currently, my classroom setup allows students to choose to sit at either one of my regular tables or at one of my low tables. I hope to add the choice of using the requested Learniture Active Learning Stools or the Gaiam Balance Balls at the regular tables. These two seating options will provide students with subtle and gentle rocking motions that have been proven to increase student focus and attention. For my low tables, I would like to add the choice of the SoftZone Floor cushions or the Trideer Wobble cushions. Both types of cushions can help students work on better coordination and grant sensory input to improve their learning. These four different types of seating options provide my students the freedom to wiggle discreetly without distracting others. With your donation, I can create a soothing and calm classroom environment that promotes better focus on challenging school work.
