Many of my students, both boys and girls, are from low income families. Some are first and second generation citizens. They have not had the opportunities to prepare for careers in the high tech world to which their families have moved. New Mexico is a state with many technological and scientific industries. The students who graduate in the next ten years need to be prepared for careers in those fields as well as in engineering and mathematics.
