My students are from the largest city in Illinois. Our school is an academically recovering school driven to provide the very best to students that want to learn, but need access to every resource possible. Our school is a minority, inner-city, urban campus where socioeconomic challenges could be a distraction; however, our students are generally well-behaved knowing their teachers expect the very best from them. Thanks to strong administrators, failure is certainly not an option. Unfortunately, most students don't understand the importance of reading independently and will only practice it under school direction. This is why it is extremely important to promote a climate of readers that read because they LOVE it; not because they HAVE to. With effort from teachers to liven up the classroom by creating a warm learning environment, students are expected to grow in love with their classroom and the libraries that come with it.
