By providing more engaging science activities, the students will investigate changes in matter that occur during a chemical reaction and evaluate evidence that indicates a physical change has occurred. They will learn to recognize these and know the difference between a chemical and physical reaction. These hands-on activities will keep students more engaged in learning about chemical reactions. By incorporating more individual science experiences, I feel that the students will learn more and become more confident in their abilities. When students witness science up close, they will develop a curiosity that will push them to learn more. These chemical reaction experiments will help teach the science core for fifth graders in Utah.
