Several of my students have behavioral disorders that cause them to overreact to various types of stimuli including loud noises, changes in routine, and inability to express what is bothering them. One coping mechanism that all of my students use is a break in the "Calm-Down Center". Our current center is well worn and the dividers allow them to separate themselves from their triggers are starting to fall apart. The PVC is cracking and will not last much longer. We are hoping to replace the PVC with steel to afford more stability and longevity to the life of our calm down center.
