This project will help me create a library that is more reflective of the students that I have in my classroom. Students of all backgrounds should be able to look through books and see themselves and their experiences reflected within. Students will see themselves in the characters we read about and carry that with them throughout their lives. I don't ever want a child to feel like who they are and where they come from is not important. Representation matters. Students should never grow up thinking that their story is not important, and that is the message we send when they are not reflected in the books that they read and enjoy.

About my class
