I work in a great environment. My scholars are predominately African American in the inner city at an art and design school. They come with diverse gifts and talents, but many have challenging home lives. Because of this, their success academically is vitally important. Our scholars have the unique opportunity to complete design challenges on the elementary school level. This allows them to look at their community and design ways on improving things in and out of the studio. Our community is an environment where students, teacher and parents are valued. I would describe my learning community as one that fosters creativity and innovation.
