My students are in the 7th and 8th grade. They are very diverse in ethnicity, socioeconomic status and ability level. My main goal for creating a DonorsChoose account is to acquire a larger selection of books for my reading classes to choose from, as well as books for my social studies and language arts classes for reading across the curriculum. The students who are low in reading need to read more and they are not interested in reading most of the class sets of books that the school currently owns. I want to find books they actually enjoy. They need to have books that they can relate to and understand. The more students read, the better they become at reading. Reading more is the only way to improve reading skills. I want to have my reading students reading novels, stories and poems at all times throughout the year and this site is an awesome way to make that happen.
