With each lesson I teach, I like to incorporate a good book. It is important for the students to have something to anchor their knowledge to as well as make connections. If a student can make a connection to a book, they are more likely to make a connection to the content. Reading is important throughout every subject. I want to be able to begin each unit or lesson with a book that will help the students create connections and grow their schema. In a world of technology, it is important for a child to know books, how to hold them, read them, and learn from them. My students come into first grade eager to learn, read, and move forward through school. This project will help me enrich their lives with a love of learning, reading, and making connections for a lifetime.
