We need quality text sources to learn from and as sources for research and writing projects in the areas of science & social studies. My students will be able to read independently and reference the text using all of the reading strategies we work so hard to teach them and equip them with. The current standards require students to research social studies topics and use the acquired knowledge to write research non fiction and expository forms of written work. Our students will have a disadvantage from other school systems if we don't acquire some current text sources that are relevant and student friendly. It is important that urban school children be given the same chances as those students in wealthier districts. Please support us!
