A carpet this size is an essential piece of our classroom's learning! By providing the students with an additional learning space, students will get the opportunity to break up their day through movement. Movement is critical to allowing energetic learners to get out their wiggles and refocus on important tasks. It can accommodate a growing class of up to 30 students with designated spaces for all! The design of this specific carpet supports students' body awareness and respect for others' personal space. This is a key component to learning about self regulation in second grade. Most importantly, a space like this will promote community in our classroom! A gathering place like this will be used multiple times throughout the school day. It is large enough that each day can begin in a circle for morning meeting and the grid pattern is ideal for easy student pairings or groupings. When students are able to sit closely together, they can more easily share their ideas with one another and feel like they are part of a larger cohesive unit!
