My students need manipulatives to increase their learning experiences. These manipulatives will be able to be used across the curriculum. We will use the animal manipulatives to create patterns in math, to sort by attributes in science, and to increase our use of descriptive words in writing. These "toys" will create learning experiences new to my students. Many of my students do not have LEGO style building bricks at home. They will use these manipulatives to expand their creativity and explore concepts of force in science by building structures and testing the amount of weight they can withstand. My students are more engaged when they are taking a part in their learning. The STEM kits and magnetic building blocks will be used in math to aid in geometry. My students will learn 2-D shapes with the individual pieces and then advance into making their own 3-D shapes. This project will open doors once closed.
