My studens were working with 100 items to create a design. They are working collaboratively in groups of 4-5 students as they make their design. Our focus for this week was "What does 100 look like?" 100 can be a large amount or a very samll amount. Each group had 100 items: cubes, pattern blocks, linking arms, snap and builds to create their project then present to the class. It was interesting watching how they decided who would do what. I did have to visit with some small groups to get them talking together instead of working on their own. Five year olds are really still about themselves and have to be lead into working with others. After they completed and presented their project we rotated to a new group of items and it was more successful because they had experince from the first build.
