"Who's better fit to tell your story, than you?", is the essential question I ask my students. Being the narrator of our stories at our school and within our community means choosing how we want to display our image to those watching in order to inspire, uplift, and motivate. Often, in low income communities and at low income schools, the great accomplishments get overlooked and we're yet plagued with negative uninspiring stories. As we teach our students, be the change that the world needs. This year WE ARE GOING TO BE THAT CHANGE!! Although we currently focus on telling our stories through our writing lessons and through our community involvement, we are ready to take it to the next level. This year, with your help, we are starting our Young Journalist media program. We will use the tripods, iPad mounts, microphone and green screen with their iPads to create videos that will be displayed on our school site, on our school website, and within community events on our campus. Not only will this strengthen the students writing skills but it will give them a sense of accomplishment in learning to create videos that will impact our class, the school, and the greater community.
