I teach in Colorado in a district that is the second lowest funded district. The community is small and very close. There are 50% students that are seen as high risk and receive free or reduced lunch, and the district is funded low. Everyone knows each other and has for generations. I graduated from the school that I teach at. There are 220 students that attend the high school, 9th through 12th grade. The students, for the most part, are respectful and most graduate and end up going to college. The community does seem to be more involved in sports than in the arts, which makes it difficult to have a program.
