I teach at a Title I school in Central Illinois with 66% of our students coming from low-income homes. Students may not get the opportunities at home to build and learn through play the way we will be able to in class with the help of building blocks and tinker toys. Engineers, Scientists and Mathematicians are the future. Not only with these tools help us to bring STEM to our classroom, but we will also be able to incorporate them into our Writing lessons as students get the opportunity to "Build a Story" with building blocks and community workers before writing. Play-Doh will give us hands-on opportunities to working on our letters and spelling. Help make our future so BRIGHT that we have to wear SHADES!
