Honestly, I truly believe that all students must be able to work with their hands. In this day and age, too much emphasis is on simply using a phone or tablet to "complete" activities. I enjoy making my high school students work with construction paper and build kites and paper airplanes.
Many kids have forgotten what it's like to simply work with "low tech" items. I want to give them that experience.
However, with multiple preps in my schedule and no in classroom storage, I need to provide an organized solution to our lab activities. Plus, I want to be sure that my students participate in activities that aren't used as often anymore. We're going "old school".
The few lab items are items that are difficult to find and have my school purchase for me - the two reaction kits and disappearing rainbow kit are to help my ninth grade students visually see different types of chemical reactions without the need for bulky nor dangerous materials. The horseshoe magnetics will be used in conjunction with a mousetrap car lab that my Physics students will be doing. The bigger magnets will give them more power.
