My classroom is filled with remarkable and eager young 5th graders. These kids deserve the world, and if it were up to me, they'd have everything they could ever ask for and more. These students deal with more than the average adult could even imagine, yet they show up for school ready to learn. As adults, sometimes we forget that children are still capable of teaching us, rather than the adults teaching them. However, I have learned so much from these young scholars, and I am so excited to continue to see these amazing young people grow. We are a Leader in Me school, which teaches kids leadership, responsibility, and empathy, along with many other lessons. Empathy is one of the most valuable lessons that young students can learn. Looking at a situation from another perspective, or finding a solution that benefits everyone, not just one person, can make all the difference in a classroom.
