The materials in this project will provide me with supplemental materials and reference materials that can be reproduced to aid in reading and writing. Many of my students are still in the early stages of reading and writing.
My students are not limited by their exceptionalities, but rather victors because of their adversities. My students are unique, caring, and hardworking. They strive every day to do their best and overcome their individual disabilities whether it be academic or emotional.
Students like to work in various places in the classroom and we have outdoor lessons that require them to have something to bear down on. Having simple, assistive technologies such as pencil grips and clipboards will provide them with small adaptations for writing to promote their success. The stress balls that have clever saying will be a tool for students that have difficulties with attention, frustration, and anger when completing difficult tasks.
Dyslexia is on the rise and having the items in place such as colored overlays and various ways to teach sight words rather than phonics is essential for their reading success. The dry erase markers and erasers will provide a hands on approach for reading and writing in a new way.
The resources in this project will open the door for new strategies, supplemental materials, and opportunities in and out of the classroom for my students.
