The pre-vocational items requested will help students with special needs start their journey towards adulthood. The students in my class, grades 3-5, are mostly non verbal and on a preschool level. Even though we work on some academics, we concentrate on skills that will help them in the future and have immediate success at the same time. We start with learning about basic shapes and colors and progress to sorting and categorizing. The skills my students learn now will even help at home with chores and a sense of pride for themselves and their parents.
