My students are always eager to learn and they love to move! As parents we spend the first few years of our child's life encouraging movement and talking. Then we spend our child's grade school years telling them to sit down and be quiet. Movement in the classroom helps with retention, fine and gross motor skills, and controlling student behavior problems. I want to encourage movement in my room not only as a way to learn, but as a way to keep our minds and bodies healthy. Most of my students will learn more if they are able to move around the classroom or stand at their seats. I want to help my students learn without restricting their movement all day.
