As a teacher in an alternative PBL math classroom I am faced with the challenge of engaging students who have a negative relationship with mathematics. I want them to see the beauty of mathematics. At the beginning of the year many of my students would tell me math is worthless, while others appreciated math at some level. I set out to be a teacher of mathematics to get students excited about math. My goal is to share my enthusiasm for math with my students and make real world connections. I work with students at very different levels in the same grade. I have students below and beyond grade level. I am working to find ways to reach them all where they are at and show them how exciting math can be!
