My classroom is in need of highly engaging reading materials to help build my students literacy skills in Spanish. Everyday my students work in a variety of literacy centers while I work on skills with individual students and small groups. The materials requested in this project will be used in the following centers: Read to Self, Read to Someone and the Listening Center. The read along books will help further expose my students to a variety of literature that will help increase their vocabulary and comprehension skills while also helping them practice their listening skills. The fiction and non fiction books will give my students choice by allowing them to pick books that are of interest to them. When students have choices it inspires them to read more and it promotes increased engagement in reading while helping them practice the skills and strategies they previously learned. My goal is to help my students become successful, life-long readers in two languages. By funding this project you will be helping me build my classroom library and inspiring my students to read not only this year but for years to come. I thank you in advance for taking the time to read and consider my proposal.
