Our school is starting a new initiative this year called Crew Hour. Each teacher has chosen a "passion" they are eager to teach students, and it didn't have to be an academic passion either! All students will be able to choose a "passion" they too, are interested in learning about, whether it be cooking, dancing, sports, or robotics. Each teacher will have a group of 10-12 students from K-5 each quarter that will meet once a week. The groups will change to give more students an opportunity to learn a different "passion". I love building LEGOs! With these educational sets, I will be able to incorporate science, technology, engineering, and math into several fun and engaging lessons that will make it seem like playtime! One of the items I am requesting is for students K-2 and the other item is designed for students in grades 3-5. During our Crew Hour, we will be having discussions, collaborating on ideas, using our problem-solving skills, and having fun! My goal is to show students that LEGOs aren't just toys, but tools that can help them create solutions to any problem they may encounter. I want to inspire the next great leader and innovator because our students will one day be the ones making decisions, inventing cures, and creating solutions to problems we wouldn't be able to solve in our lifetime.
