Making the transition from picture books to chapter books is a scary adventure for our little friends to go on. Looking at a chapter book is often intimidating due to the size of the book. Even though it may seem intimidating the students are excited for the challenge. "The more you read, the more things you will know, the more that you learn, the more places you'll go. -Dr. Seuss The engaging stories that come from I Survived Hurricane Katrina, 2005 and The Magic Tree House Thanksgiving on Thursday will enrich our students knowledge about the vastly different topics throughout the school year. When each student has a copy of the book, it engages them at a different level. They are able to take responsibility for their reading and go back to reread or discuss their favorite parts with a classmate or teacher.
