The giant comfy pillows, carpet circles, and floor seats will be used so they can be comfortable while working on assignments. This will give my students the opportunity to feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. During their independent work time, flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change location and positions as needed because students need to move. With this movement, it helps keep young minds more alert and more on-task behavior. Comfortable students are more engaged students. With flexible seating students aren't territorial or possessive over their space and supplies, they share both. I am also preparing students for the real world because companies are incorporating flexible seating in workplaces.
