Allowing students to have a choice when it comes to reading, writing, and seating arrangements, can help them become more independent, and accountable for their actions. Their seating arrangements will be their first chance to see how good choices can benefit them and their education, or the negative effects of a bad choice. I have seen the benefits of flexible seating and I am ready to implement that into my classroom! I wish I had had this option when I was in school and that is why I want to give this option to my students. Students will have the option to stand at a raised desk, sit in a regular seat, sit on a crate seat, sit on a wiggle stool or wiggle cushion, or sit on a soft seat. This will be a great opportunity for students to see which way works best for their learning.
