I teach Literacy and Social Science and strive to create a welcoming environment for students to grow socially and academically. I implement social emotional units into the curriculum and encourage growth mindset with all students. I am a strong believer that if I open my students eyes up to the world we live in, they will be the best versions of themselves and grow as community members and life long learners. My students come from a school in the Albany Park neighborhood in Chicago. The makeup is 77% Hispanic, and serves over 800 students. 88% of the school is low income, and almost half the school has limited English. They are motivated learners who need differentiated instruction at an individual level, and have a large range of learning styles. They are able to learn so much when looked at as individuals and given the chance to explore and question.
