My school has one of the lowest performances in the county. I'm looking to incorporate different ideas and exciting technology to get them motivated to learn and read each and every day. My students like reading, but they love technology more. Why not incorporate the two by giving them the chance to use technology to improve their reading skills. They do not have easy access to technology and books at home. I am choosing to add exciting technology and resources in hopes that my students will grow to love reading! The tablets and headphones will allow my students to listen to reading on MyOn and Epic! This gives them the chance to read and listen to a variety of books that may not be available in our class or school library. The tablets will also be used for sight word and vocabulary games that focus on word building to improve their phonics and vocabulary skills. I've also included resources like letter tiles, letter blocks, and magnetic letters to help the students with word building during reading centers. The soft cushions will be used when the kids are cozied up enjoying a good book they've chosen on their tablet. The headphones and charging station will be used to safely hold the tablets and headphones when the students are not using them. The book bags will be used to hold the good fit books they've chosen from our class library. My students deserve a lot more than I can provide and I want them to have every opportunity to learn and be successful. What better way to do that than by to provide them with better technology and resources to help them reach their fullest potential!
