Walk right in; sit right down! I want to create an inviting place to learn. Many of my students come from areas where school attendance is not mandatory. Allowing choice creates ownership. I want my students to buy into our class and the history we will learn.
It is my goal to create a classroom where my students will feel warm, welcoming and an easy place to find their spot to help them transition into the high school educational system. None of us learn the same. I will be offering traditional desk sitting, tables with chairs, bean bags and other options for my students. An inviting and engaging classroom welcomes the students. I want my students to feel ownership of the classroom. It's theirs. They chose the spot for whatever activity we are doing to help them best learn.
As an adult, I can't sit for 90 minutes straight yet this is what we often expect of our students. I want an active, animated learning environment where education is key. My classroom is complete in my brain!. All it needs is a few more items to help transition my classroom from a standard classroom to a learning laboratory! Thank you so much for your help and consideration!
