My school is a high school in a high poverty area of Philadelphia. It is very diverse consisting of white, black, and latino students almost equally. I teach all grades in either AP calculus or geometry. Some families struggle to buy a $20 calculator, buying a $100 calculator is unheard of. My school does its best to get by with what we have, and although we provide a great education, with more resources it could be the best education. These calculators would be used with all classes, but most importantly with my AP calculus students. The class consists of 17 seniors and 1 junior. They are willing to do the work and keep up with the fast pace. They want to work hard, and they want to succeed. They not only help themselves, but they are willing to help others get to where they want to be. I want to do everything in my power to provide them with everything possible to enable them to score how they want to on the AP test. This will teach them skills needed for their future.
