The district I work in has a wide variety of students from different kinds of households. More than half of our students come from low-income households. A large portion of those students do not have internet at home with no way to get to school to pick up work. We are now in hybrid-model in person learning. Keeping the students engaged on their "at home" learning days is a priority! This project will allow me to differentiate learning for my students. This pandemic has place students below grade level in many areas. In particular, reading has been a struggle. Our students are struggling readers and often times don't have the funds for books at home. This means that I must look for supplemental material for my students. Teachers Pay Teachers is a great resource for teachers to collaborate and give to each other for a small price. TPT has leveled readers and engaging activities that are digital and printable. This allows teachers to use up-to-date materials to meet the needs of all students. Having internet connection should not be the only way a student can learn. I can print materials and upload them into the learning system. Reading is critical for our students. Reading is the foundation for all learning! If you are not able to read then you will likely struggle in other areas as well. TPT will allow me to reach out to other educators and find fun and engaging materials for my students to read and projects for my students to work on at home and at school.
