I am hoping to provide my students with two unique opportunities with this project. The first is creating interactive Google Tours using local and state destinations. We are piloting a new Social Studies curriculum with standards that cover Wisconsin and U.S. history from 1848-1924 and with the 360* camera, I would be able to take photos and videos and create an interactive tool for my students to make a connection with history and present time. The camera would also be integrated into our other academic areas by allowing us to use the camera for our school news, science projects, and math connections. As I stated earlier, this group of students is very compassionate. The books were inspired by our first day of school. In a Google Slide presentation about the teachers, I had posted a photo of the book I am currently reading, Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus. This book is about a young girl who was born with no arms and how she perseveres through daily life. As I did a short book talk, several students asked to borrow the book when I was done. That was when the light bulb came on and I recalled several books about perseverance I had read recently and how great it would be to set up book clubs about perseverance and get those important conversations going.
