I have the opportunity to work with students from all across my school district, Horry County. These students go through a demanding application and interview process to enroll in this unique program. My students are highly gifted, and are always looking for the opportunity to deepen their learning through opportunities that prove both challenging and engaging. I teach the ninth grade English course at the Scholars Academy that serves as a foundation to improve their college-and-career-ready reading, writing, and comprehension skills. The normal transition from middle school to high school can be difficult, but the transition from middle school to college-level courses can be even more drastic. It is my goal to help prepare these students for not only their rigorous high school career, but for the rigors of the college and career world that follow.

About my class
