Unfortunately, improving student attendance is a huge challenge faced by many schools. The importance of attendance is clear; students need to be present in school to benefit from the curriculum, meet academic requirements, and participate in special opportunities that school offers. Yet, many schools experience attendance issues – such as high absentee rates, excessive student tardiness and early outs. As a member of our school attendance committee, I want to give incentives to our children to keep them motivated to attend school daily. After hearing the students talk about how much they love playing Xbox, the committee decided that we should have a game room. The game room will provide a fun and entertaining place where all of our students with improved attendance could play on the Xbox as a reward. The Xbox, games, movies, bench and snacks will be used to make the room comfortable and inviting for the children. This will be a school-wide incentive and motivation program that will be an excellent way to get all of our students excited about coming to school.
