We all know that the book is always better than the movie! I have been inspired to get books/movie combos in the hands of my students and their families. Creating this opportunity for my students combines two very important areas of a school climate; reading to learn and parent involvement. I am going to have students take home the novels to read as a student/parent team, or as a whole family. While reading the book, they will discuss the book. Once they are done reading the book they will send them back to school and check the movie out to watch at home. After finishing the movie, students will work on a project to compare and contrast the book and the movie. Students will present their project in class, and they will have the opportunity to invite their parent(s)/family to present with the children. I am so excited to see how this will increase my students' out of school reading, positive interaction with their parents, and parent involvement in our school!
