If there is one thing my kiddos take away from school, it's that learning doesn't have to be done behind a desk! I find that when students are able to relax they open their minds. If that means they need to read on a bean bag chair or just have the lighting adjusted and have lavender oil diffused throughout the room, so be it. These children spend the majority of their waking hours in a classroom and it should be a place of comfort and acceptance. The first time they walk in the room, I want my kids to know they are safe and wanted - it may be the only place they feel that way.
