Sixth grade brings many challenges for students. Some students are making a big transition into middle school and the content taught is completely different from that of elementary school. My students will need these manipulatives because we are going to build a concrete foundation and work our way to abstract thinking. STEM education is crucial inside a mathematics classroom because it draws in real life scenarios. i strive for my students to have real-world experiences inside my math classroom and to give them that, we need some manipulatives. I want my students to investigate different shapes with the XY peg board and the Pattern Blocks. Students will investigate the different sizes and values of fractions by using the Fraction Towers.
