I teach in a lower income community in rural Illinois. Many of my students struggle with independent reading due to lack of motivation from home. As a reading teacher, I work each and every day to motivate my students to enhance their love of reading by promoting independent reading during class time. The only problem is that our school does not the financial resources to provide classroom libraries, nor do I independently have the resources to provide my students with books they want to read.
